Earning Miles by Booking your Next Hotel Stay
Rocketmiles.com is a travel booking site that allows you to earn thousands of miles whenever you book a hotel through them, which can be converted 1:1 to a huge number of airline schemes. It’s typically much more generous than crediting your stay to a hotel scheme, where you would need to spend a whole lot more to accumulate the same number of airline miles, and to be honest I have only discovered them now. You can sign up to Rocketmiles via this link HERE, by using that link you will also earn an extra 1,000 miles at your first booking.
Rocketmiles seems to be part of the Priceline group, which is part of booking.com, Kayak, Agoda.com, and numerous other well known travel sites.
Rocketmiles pricing is not the most competitive out there – cross check prices with other booking sites if getting the cheapest price is more important to you than picking up airline miles. Also bear in mind you do not earn hotel loyalty program qualifying stays/nights for bookings made via Rocketmiles.
As you can see above there are many airline partners where you could transfer your points to, however for us in Australia QANTAS and Virgin Velocity are not currently part of Rocketmiles. But there are some we use in our region such Singapore Airlines, Etihad Guest, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, British Airways Executive Club and many others. You could use this to transfer your points to American Airlines AAdvantage program for business class travel or use the British Airways Executive Club for short haul redemption, ie Adelaide to Melbourne for 4,500 Avios (one way).
As you can see from the example above you could get 5,000 Avios for booking 2 nights. I have also done a same search but selecting AAdvantage miles and it was also the same amount of points.
Rocketmiles is currently running an offer for 3,000 bonus miles valid with most partners for the first hotel booking using the service until December 30, 2016. This means that you can earn 3,000 bonus miles in addition to the regular miles of 1,000 to 10,000 per night that you earn (even for one night stay) – so you’ll end up with a minimum of 4,000 miles from a single night booking.
This is obviously not for everyone but most of us when we go on holidays book and stay in hotel and why not get rewarded with extra miles. Again it’s best to do your sums before making a booking and check out what SPG, Marriott, IHG have on offer as well before you take the plunge and take up the offer from rocketmiles.
